To properly apply Bifen L/P Granules, a push spreader or hand spreader is required. We recommend using a push spreader for broadcast applications and a hand spreader for small, localized applications.
How to Use
- Step 1: First, measure the square footage of your yard. You can do this by measuring the length and width of your yard, then multiplying those numbers together (length x width = square footage). This will determine how much Bifen L/P you will need to apply. Even though your pest concern may only take place in one area of your yard, it is best to treat your entire area to prevent reappearance. The application rate for Bifen L/P is between 1.15 and 4.6 pounds per 1,000 square feet. We recommend using 2.5 pounds of Bifen L/P, but you can increase the amount for heavier infestations. For example, if your yard was 2,000 square feet, you would need 5 pounds of Bifen L/P.
- Step 2: Once you have determined how much Bifen L/P you need, pour the measured amount into your spreader. The granules are small and resemble sand; be sure to calibrate your spreader to the lowest setting to avoid excess application.
- Step 3: Walk with a steady pace to evenly distribute Bifen L/P. After making a complete application, water the treated areas to help the granules penetrate the soil. Bifen L/P has results lasting up to three months. You can reapply as needed, as long as no more than 200 pounds of Bifen L/P is used per year.
Where to Use
Bifen L/P Granules can be applied to lawns and flower gardens, flower beds, around or along perimeters and foundations of houses and other structures, around mulch beds, along fence lines, and around decks. It can also be applied to other areas such as institutional, public, commercial and industrial buildings, parks, recreational areas, and athletic fields.
When to Use
Bifen L/P Granules can be applied when treating for targeted insects on turfs, lawns, or flowerbeds and around the perimeter of foundations. It can also be used as a spot treatment when ant mounds are developing. Do not apply during windy weather or 24 hours before heavy rains, as this can cause the granules to drift away while making applications or wash away after applications. If rains or floods have occurred after treatments another application can be made.
Bifen L/P Granules are safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when making applications.
This product is toxic to aquatic organisms. Do not apply Bifen L/P near bodies of water, or when rain is expected in the next 24 hours. If any product lands on a driveway, sidewalk, or street, sweep it back onto the treated area to prevent runoff to bodies of water or drainage systems.
Over time, insects can become resistant to bifenthrin, the active ingredient in Bifen L/P. Bifen L/P Granules should not be applied on golf courses or other turfs and lawns that have hills or ground areas where the granules will wash away during rains or irrigation practices.3
